Data ownership and exit
Your data is yours, and this page says what that means in entities and file formats rather than in a sentence.
Why this page exists
We sell a proprietary stack, so the fair question is what happens if you want to leave. Every vendor answers it with a line about data ownership and almost none of them say which tables, which formats, or whether you can do it yourself. A commitment you cannot check is not a commitment — so here is one you can.
What is settled.
- What you can export, entity by entity“Which data exactly, not "your data"?”
Everything the system holds about your business and your clients. Named individually below, because a list is checkable and a phrase is not. Anything absent from this list is absent from the commitment, and if you need something that is not here, ask before you sign rather than after. One row is not self-service: the full PostgreSQL dump is produced on request, and the turnaround we will commit to for it contractually is still open — ask for it in writing rather than taking this page for it.
Entity Format Self-service Client records and contact detail CSV, JSON Yes KYC documents and their review trail Original files, plus a CSV manifest Yes Trading accounts, groups and leverage settings CSV, JSON Yes Open positions with entry price, swap accrual and margin state CSV, JSON Yes Closed trade history CSV, JSON Yes Ledger: deposits, withdrawals, adjustments, commissions CSV, JSON Yes IB and affiliate tree with levels, rates and overrides CSV, JSON Yes Partner commission statements CSV, PDF as issued Yes Instrument and pricing configuration JSON Yes Back-office audit log CSV, JSON Yes Full relational schema with data PostgreSQL dump On request - Standard formats, not ours“Will the export actually load into something else?”
CSV and JSON for every entity, with the schema documented and column names that mean what they say. The full-database option is a plain PostgreSQL dump, which any competent team or migrating vendor can restore and read without our help — that is the point of choosing it over a proprietary archive. KYC documents come out as the original files rather than re-encoded, with a manifest mapping each file to its client and its review state.
- No request needed for routine export“Do I have to ask you, and can you slow it down?”
Every entity marked self-service above is a button in the back office, available to your own staff at any time, with no ticket and no notice to us. This matters more than any turnaround commitment: a promise to produce data within some period is only as good as the relationship at the moment you need it, and the moment you need it is usually the moment the relationship is worst. The full-database dump is the one thing that needs a request, because it is a snapshot of your whole schema and it is produced deliberately.
- What happens if you stop paying“You say I can always export. What about when we are in a dispute?”
Published, in full, so you can read the worst case before you sign it instead of during it. Payment terms are simple: you pay, we deliver, and a new invoice is issued each month. An invoice falls due on the first day named in the table below — the ladder is counted from the invoice date, so its opening step lands exactly when the term expires, and that step is a notice rather than a restriction. Two things never happen at any step, and they are stated above the ladder rather than beneath it because they are the reason we are willing to publish a ladder at all.
- Data export stays open at every step, regardless of payment status. No stage of this ladder restricts it. A commitment to data ownership that switches off during a billing dispute is not a commitment — the dispute is the case it exists for.
- End-user withdrawals are never blocked, at any step. Your clients are not party to a disagreement between us, and their money is not leverage. This is also why we do not hold it.
Day What changes What does not Day 15 Notice and a warning. Nothing is restricted. Everything continues, including new accounts and new deposits. Day 22 New account opening and new deposits stop. Existing accounts, trading, position closing, withdrawals, export. Day 30 New position opening stops. Open positions can still be closed. Withdrawals and export continue. Day 45 Service is suspended and admin panel access is restricted. Data export and end-user withdrawals continue, in full, as at every earlier step. - What we do not hold“What of mine is not even in your system?”
Client funds. We are a software and infrastructure vendor, we are not a broker, and we do not hold client funds at any point. Your banking and payment provider relationships are yours, held in your name, and nothing about leaving us touches them. The same is true of your platform licences on the managed-infrastructure side of the business.
Named rather than omitted. An unanswered question presented in the same voice as an answered one is the thing to watch for on any vendor's trust page.
What is not settled.
1 of these questions cannot be answered honestly today. Each one below says what has to exist before it can be, rather than being answered with something that sounds like an answer.
- Written into the agreement“Is the rest of this a marketing page or a contractual term?”
Needs
- The export clause as it appears in the standard agreement, quoted verbatim on this page. The enforcement ladder is published above; the clause that binds us to it is not yet quoted here, and a published ladder is a statement of intent until it is.
- The committed turnaround for the full-archive-on-exit case. This is a contractual term and inventing a number here would be inventing a term — it is registered as an outstanding figure rather than guessed.
- What happens to your data after you leave: retention period, deletion confirmation, and who signs it.
- Whether the export commitment survives an acquisition of us. This is the specific fear behind the question and it belongs in the clause, not on a page.
Ask about the gaps.
If one of the unsettled items decides your purchase, ask directly. You will get an answer or an honest “not decided yet”, which is worth more than a page that had one either way.
5open items on this page
- The verbatim export clause from the standard agreement.
- Committed turnaround for a full archive on exit — registered as an outstanding figure, not guessed.
- Post-exit data retention and deletion policy, with who confirms deletion.
- Whether the export commitment survives a change of control. The honest place for this is the contract.
- A published schema reference, so a migrating team can read the export without asking us.
